Abstract

This article describes the arc of science fiction in English from India written by women authors. Starting with Begum Rokeya’s Sultana’s Dream to more contemporary works by Vandana Singh, Manjula Padmanabhan and Swapna Kishore, the article returns to the concept of the mythologerm advanced in the SFS piece and discusses how these authors negotiate the burden of myth in their own science fiction.
